News from the nuts.

16/09/02
Oh, my God, we're back again.
Yes, that's right, I (as the long-standing editor of the Forcewritings) experienced a moment of great sadness and guilt a few weeks ago as I realized that I had not updated the site in about ... well, 10 months. Pretty pathetic, isn't it? Shortly after the moment of great sadness, I experienced a moment of great joy as I had an epiphany: I may have neglected my editorial duties for almost a year, but the Forcewritings is far from dead.
Cath Theriault and I spent our two-week stay in England this summer designing character and plot outlines for our Forcewritings-based comic book, Small Wonder, which we hope to publish sometime this year, and catching up with Sara Miller and Alexandra Looney (check out the pictures from our meetup in the Photos section). Tara is still hard at work on her epic novel of the mid-years, Rights Of Passage, while Alex, from what I could piece together from our three hours of hysterical laughter in an Aylesbury diner, has been busy blowing up their school's chemistry lab.
Meanwhile, back at home, Kerry Wall still reminisces about the good old days when her character was a bad-ass, though she's sort of semi-retired from the fan-fiction business. (Actually, strictly between us here, she's crossed over to Final Fantasy, but she still went to see SW Episode II three[?] times in the theatre. As a further aside, I thought it was positively crapular. "I pray that it does not become a scar" ... come on, even we're better than that! It sounded like a fifth-grader's Valentine!)
Anyway, I myself have been working hard at rewriting the more fifth-grade parts of my novels, and am mid-way through By The Whill Of The Force, probably my favorite of the three, but the one that took me no time at all to write. Re-writing means making my characters less two-dimensional and petty, and incorporating another school year's worth of new knowledge about life and the universe. Not that you care. Bring on the fan-fic, right?
Well, if you've taken the time to read this far, you'll now have the life-affirming experience of finding out about some of the new things you're going to find around the site (which will last longer than November this time, I promise), such as the newest project, The Transit Tales. I won't give away too much here, but let's just say that, it now being my last year of high school (and the last year that I'll probably have time to do stuff like this), I thought it would be a good time to pay tribute to my mode of transportation to and from school these past three years: the public bus. Yeah, intriguing, right? I know mass transit commuters will appreciate the stories compiled by myself and my friend Meghan of abusive bus drivers, regurgitation, and the eponymous California grapes.
Also, your favorites are back, including the Poetry, Fiction, Artwork, and Photo sections. The only other new appearance is Small Wonder, and that will speak for itself when it's finished, being a comic book and all.
So, my rant is now finished - on with the show.
All I ask is for a little patience as I recompile all my endless folders of graphics and stories and scenes into the shrine to slightly abnormal teenage existence that was and still is the Forcewritings, and for you to pardon this boring font - Netscape Composer is crapular - until another option reveals itself.
Enjoy your stay in our world, and please wipe your feet on the mat.
-Ed.

(No, my name is not Ed, for those of you who may be wondering, although you may call me Phil, if you so desire.)
